FreeTV Now in Kano
Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) broadcasting started in Nigeria june 17,2006. This followed the deadline of june17, 2015, for member Countries to switch over from analogue to digital broadcasting. Jos became the pilot city and on the 30th of April, 2016, Nigeria launched the pilot phase of the digital transmission project. The digital broadcasting train has moved across 7 states in Nigeria and concluded the first phase of digitisationim Osun State on February 23, 2018.
In the second phase, 13 states are are scheduled for switch on, starting with Lagos state, which switched on April 29, 2021.
After launching 7 states successfully, the Federal Government of Nigeria took DSO to the Centre of Commerce. FREETV was launched in Kano state on the 2nd of November 2021.
